Sartarite whisky is too obvious a cliche' to pass up.
Indeed. IMG, the invention of whiskey was a major Sartarite heroquest
undertaken in reaction to the Lunar introduction of the demon gin. The
questers traveled through the heroplane, sneaked around the Lunar paths
to the original Lodrili deities of alcohol, narrowly avoided being
seduced by the Hogarthian excesses there, and stole the Secret of the
Still after surviving in the obligatory drinking contest with the Keeper
of the Pot-Fire.
This was all discovered at Castle Stahleck by Joerg and I after
polishing off a very nice single malt. I hope to repeat the quest at
Convulsion 3D. (Can anyone recommend good places to go whiskey shopping
in London? There is a 1971 Clynelish I'd really like to find.)
I will leave it to Peter Metcalfe to make the Elmal and Gustbran
connections. Hmm, there must also be some Elf or Earth influence in
order to account for the copper tanks.
